Beauty Routine for children with Abicì

All children learn through imitation. They see Dad shaving, Mom applying face or body cream, and they want to do it too.

When Giulia, my daughter, started expressing the same desire, I wondered if the products I used for my beauty routine were suitable for her sensitive skin. The answer was no.

For this reason, I decided to develop an innovative cosmetic line that fully meets the needs and characteristics of children's skin.

ABICÌ: THE STORY OF MY BRAND

To realize this project, I decided to turn to an expert formulator, teacher, scientist, and friend, to develop a line of shampoos, conditioners, bath and shower gels, intimate cleansers, body and face creams, and perfumes that could intrigue children, eager to experience a true daily beauty ritual, but without exposing them to any risk.

Abicì is a line of cosmetics for children aged 3 to 12 years. At this stage of life, when they are no longer small enough to use baby products, but not old enough to use adult ones, their skin is still delicate and sensitive as it is not characterized by sufficient sebum to protect it, and their hair is still very fine and therefore requires specific treatments.

Why the name Abicì? As we know, ABC is learned as children, just as it is possible to learn from a young age how fun and pleasant it is to indulge in a daily pampering that relieves the tensions of the day.

THE RITUAL OF BEAUTY AND SELF-CARE

Our hectic lives take away precious time to share with our children. Yet, in the current difficult situation, we have the opportunity to rediscover the pleasure of free time to spend with our children.

So why not take the opportunity to transform their beauty routine into a moment of pampering and rituals? After all, it is in the curious and experimental nature of children to want to immerse their hands in fragrant and soft foams, apply melting creams, learn to comb their hair and untangle knots on their own: why not indulge them?

In this historical moment - where no one is in a hurry - we can finally dedicate ourselves to our little ones, taking care of their well-being and their body. For us parents, on the other hand, this sharing allows us to momentarily relieve the stress and worries weighing on our shoulders.

THE INGREDIENTS AND FORMULAS

As I mentioned, children's skin and hair do not yet have the resistance of adults': for them, any exposure to chemical agents is even more harmful and produces long-term effects.

Furthermore, it is precisely during childhood that allergic reactions to cosmetic components often begin to manifest: for this reason, for my Abicì line, I wanted to formulate all products with safe, stable, delicate ingredients that did not lose their effectiveness.

The cosmetics in my line are composed of plant and mineral-based substances:

• butters and oils: they form a barrier on children's skin, which defends it from aggressions, nourishes, repairs, and deeply hydrates it. My favorites are macadamia nut butter, shea butter, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, argan oil, flaxseed oil, and coconut oil;
• fragrant waters: instead of alcohol, which is too irritating for children, we have used chamomile water and aloe vera gel, which soothe and refresh; grapefruit seed extracts and tea tree oil, which calm irritations and prevent microbial proliferation; lotus, linden, and oat water, which hydrate even the driest skin;
• surfactants derived from sugars and vegetable amino acids: surfactants are essential in cleansing cosmetics, as they are the molecules that bind to dirt and help separate it from skin and hair. Instead of Sodium lauryl and laureth sulfate, which are more suitable for adult skin and hair, we have preferred more delicate cleansing agents, capable of perfectly cleaning, but without irritating children's skin.

We have also decided not to use PEGs and PGGs, petrolatum, silicones, and parabens, as vegetable oils and emulsifiers perform the same functions while more profoundly respecting the delicacy of children.

ATTENTION TO THE ENVIRONMENT

I believe it is essential to hand over a more livable and less polluted world to our children.

Teaching them the importance of recycling and ecology is also possible through the choice of environmentally friendly products: for my packaging - to this end - I have chosen recycled and recyclable materials, adding all necessary instructions on the boxes; for the ingredients, I have opted for those derived from vegetable and organic extracts.
